Procedure

The following procedure is followed when participating in the ECSS Young Investigators Award

  • All YIA applications received by the ECSS will be checked for fulfilment of the administrative requirements of the YIA. Based on a thorough reviewing process, the contestants that proceed to the final stage of the competition will be selected. These contestants will have the opportunity to present to the jury in Dublin
  • The top 14 candidates (10 oral and 4 mini-oral) will be announced latest on Friday morning, 6 July 2018, at the ECSS booth located next to the registration desks. This year we have received a smaller number of Mini Oral submissions than usual, and the number of Mini Oral prizes have been reduced proportionally (to 4).
  • YIA 2018 winners and former YIA winners will be invited to join the YIA Cocktail, which takes place on Friday evening, 6 July 2018. Attendance is obligatory for 2018 YIA winners (10 oral and 4 mini-oral).
  • All YIA 2018 winners are to be present at the YIA Cocktail in order to receive their certificate and the prize money.
  • YIA 2018 winners who do not attend the YIA Cocktail on Friday evening, 6 July 2018, cannot be considered for the entitlement to prize money
  • The top four finalists in the oral category and the winner of the mini-oral category are to be present at the YIA Ceremony on Saturday afternoon, 7 July 2018
  • The top three of the YIA oral presentations will be invited to represent the ECSS as exchange delegate for the JSPFSM - ECSS exchange in Japan
  • The number one of the YIA mini-oral presentations will be invited to represent the ECSS as an exchange delegate for the ESSA - ECSS exchange in Australia
